The Chair of Restoration Ecology is a teaching and research unit belonging to the Department of Ecology at the Weihenstephan Center of Life Sciences.
Our aim is to educate scientists with a profound understanding of vegetation and ecosystem processes, and with the ability to apply their knowledge in environmental management,
planning and nature conservation. In our research, we analyse vegetation patterns and processes as well as the role of vegetation for ecosystem functions.
Our research and teaching activities concentrate on dynamics of natural vegetation , ecology of agricultural
systems , global change ecology and restoration ecology , linking the areas of population,
community and ecosystem ecology.
Project work currently takes place in southern Brazil , southern Africa and Central Europe , in a variety of ecological systems, from grasslands and savannas , wetlands
to urban and agricultural ecosystems . |
