Lectures and Posters
Plenary lectures will be presented by invited speakers. Speakers for the
parallel sessions will be selected on the basis of scientific quality,
information content and clarity of the submitted abstracts. Additionally, some
lectures in parallel sessions will be given by invited speakers.
Time for presentations:
Plenary sessions:
30 min. presentation (no discussion)
Parallel sessions:
15 min. presentation + 5 min. discussion
All speakers must keep strictly to the time schedule and should not use the
discussion time for completing their presentations. The lecture rooms will be
equipped with overhead projectors, computer projectors (beamers), and slide
projectors for 50 x 50 mm frame slides. Speakers requiring film projectors,
video equipment (VHS) or double slide projection must indicate this when
submitting their abstracts.
Only one presentation as first author can be made (lecture or poster).
Co-authorship is unlimited. For poster presentations at least one of the
authors has to participate in the Symposium.
Posters
should be prepared as follows:
Maximum height: 120 cm, maximum width: 80 cm (not more!).
The title should be indicated at the top with letters more than 4 cm high.
Under the title the full name(s) of the author(s) should be given. A photograph
of the presenting author(s) should be attached next to the title.
Poster text should be short with letters which are more than 0.5 cm high (<
20 pt). Instead, diagrams, maps, photographs, drawings, graphics and
summarizing tables should be used as far as possible.
Abstracts
For all lectures (plenary and parallel) and posters, an abstract must be
submitted in English before 15 January 2001. We will send notifications about
acceptance of abstracts by 15 March 2001. Please use our registration
form in order to submit your abstract.
If you have technical problems with the online submission please send us your
abstract as text-only (ASCII) file, both as part of the e-mail and as attached
file (send to:
iavs44@weihenstephan.de
). The attached file should be named with
the first eight letters of the name of the first author. If it is not possible
to send an e-mail, you may send a diskette with a text-only (ASCII) file or ask
for advice.
Abstracts should be submitted in the following format:

Abstract text: not more than 1200 characters (200 words).
Publications
It is intended to publish a selected number of papers as Special Features in
refereed international journals (e.g.
Journal of Vegetation Science
,
Applied Vegetation Science
). Details on the submission of papers will be given during the Symposium.
Language
The Symposium language will be English.
Awards
Outstanding posters presented by student delegates will be considered for
student poster awards. Students who wish to be considered for an award should
indicate this on the registration form.
Travel
Freising is located 35 km north of the city of Munich. A frequently going bus
connects Freising with Munich International Airport (15 km). Freising can
easily be reached by train via Munich or Regensburg.
